Reza Banakar's death on August 28th 2020 took from us one of the most prolific and consistently committed scholars of contemporary sociology of law, a researcher who combined a deep interest in the theoretical foundations and problems of the field with an enduring allegiance to empirical research. He was an active supporter of the international socio-legal community through his involvement with the Socio-Legal Studies Association, the International Institute for the Sociology of Law, where he had taught and served on its governing body, and the Research Committee on Sociology of Law, of which he was secretary for some years. It is tempting to think of Reza as, in some respects a wanderer. He moved between countries and initially, in a remarkable way, between intellectual interests.
We would like to invite you to a scholarly book in Sociology of law, which in the spirit of Reza take up any of the many aspects he touched upon during his career.
